Plants Or Shrubs For Hedges

Topiary Hedge Hedges make very effective screens as well as barriers and dividers that can separate areas of the landscape. They can separate a vegetable garden or fenced in dog area from the rest of the landscape, or enclose a patio or jacuzzi. They can be grown at various heights, from very low to quite high (over 10 feet).

Hedges can be grown naturally or trimmed to formal shapes. Be aware that trimmed hedges can require more maintenance than other types. Too, it might take a little longer for regularly trimmed formal hedges to grow to the desired height. For tight hedges pruning must be done often to keep the proper shape.

Below is a listing of plants that are suitable for use as hedges. Click on any image or link to visit a Plant File where you can view a detailed description and instructions for care.
